A person can search his or her entire life and never find what they are looking for. I am that person.

Disturbing news. A friend of mine just text me and told me that she is going back to where she came from, Chicago. She left there in 1996. Oh, she doesn't live here in the 5 boroughs, she lives out on Long Island. She has 2 jobs, one she is about to be cut loose from...I think. So she won't be able to afford where she is living at on one paycheck. I called her and told her over the phone what the deal was, but first I asked did she want to hear my opinion. She said yes.

She has 2 grown children living with her, a man, 25 years old and a woman, 33 I think. He works, she doesn't. It was her choice to live out there on Long Island, when living here in the city would have been a better option. But she I think is afraid of big city living. Rents are affordable, compared to what she is paying for a one bedroom now, $1,400 a month...and that's in a house, where the owners are living too. For the price she is paying, she could move into a Bronx CoOp and pay just under $1,000 a month, and that's with gas and electric included. More jobs, public transportation close by, and food cost extremely will be within her budget. her son could sell one of the 2 cars he has, and the daughter could look for a job too. But no, she wants me to help her out, which I refused to do for reasons I don't even have to explain.

Don't threaten me with you deciding to just pick up and head back to Chicago...JUST GO. What makes you think I am obligated to take care of you and yours. Don't take my advice, well leave then. You choosed to be living where you are living. And what makes you think moving to Chicago will be any better. People freezing to death in the winter and death by heat exhaustion in the summer. Not much of a choice if you ask me. But if that's what you feel you have to do, do it.
